My experience learning English at university

The English at the university has helped me to remember some things, I have forgotten with time, but I must confess that it took me a lot of time to get here, I think that's because I never had an good foundation in English in my school.

I started with classes of English when I was in sixth grade and through eighth grade, I didn`t learn much English, because every year I changed the teacher, so here every year the only thing I could see was the verb To-Be, also in the assessments I didn`t have to apply the contents learned, because I just had to memorizing lessons and English teacher spoke in Spanish. For this reason in high school I had some problems and difficulties with English, because the level was much more advanced and the teachers spoke English in the classes.

I think this lack of knowledge in English, must the experience I have lived with this, cause the little motivation that I have with learning English.

The experience of use blog has helped express my opinion in different thematics, although I must admit that in a start I have someone problems for make this, nevertheless I think it is an instance that serves to practice this language.

It's always hard for me to understand the listening in English and speak this languaje, because think that I need learning more vocabulary to improve this,  what I've been doing this last time is to listen to more music in English to go interacting more with their pronunciation and also go read some things in English that will enable me to expand my vocabulary a little.

As have most been occupying English these days has been listening to music in English, to go with understanding and also see it, but I must admit that it took me much but with practice I think one can advance a little .

2014

This 2014 was a big year for me, because I been able learn new things and expand my knowledge, also I enjoyed spending more time with my family and my friends, see new places and have new experiences.

It was a year with good times and some bad, but I think it's always better to learn from all these situations and evaluate all these new experiences that one lives, especially when you can share those special moments with the people you want.

I think that one should enjoy every minute of life and let things flow. I'm not good planning things, so I prefer that everything goes spontaneously in the moment. However there are many things I would like to do in the future as,  finish my career,  take some courses related to art and photography, meet many different places and fantastic, work out what I like and have time to continue enjoying these things and of the moments with my family and friends. For now I'll keep working hard for achieve the things I want to do and enjoying the time with the people I love, enjoying every moment and experience for keep learning new things.

I also think that my achievements are related to the things I would like to do in the future, because finishing the race for me would be a great achievement, plus a great happiness, not only for me but also for my family, which is a fundamental part of my life and I think being able to strengthen my relationship with them and with my friends, who are also important for me is definitely one of my greatest achievements and are now part of my daily happiness.

Friendship

My friends are very important to me. They have always supported me in good times and bad times.

Sometimes I feel nostalgic, when I remember those childhood friends with whom I no longer speak for one reason or another, but always formed an important part of my life. I remember when I was in school I had a friend with whom he shared a lot and you could talk for hours on the phone, even my father got angry with me for the phone bill. She gave me an ornament that I still keep, it have a very nice phrase, that say: A friend like you is not as easy to find, but is even harder to forget¨ Every time I see that phrase I remember her and the good times we shared.

I always keep fondly all those gifts, dedications and moments that have given me. I remember in the school once surprised me for my birthday with many pink balloons or outside the room decorated with Happy Birthday Panchi ¨ even surprised me at my house or somewhere where they had everything ready to celebrate my birthday. We always have fun when we go out or go on vacation, remember old times and enjoyed the moment.

It may take weeks or months without seeing , because all live and study in different locations, but still I know that our friendship relationship is never lose because I think we have a very strong bond that unites us. 

HOW GREEN ARE YOU?

I think everyone should learn about environmentally- friendly practices.

I think that the people learn about environmentally-friendly practices with the family, with friends, in the schools and by  different means communication, either in the street with a pamphlet or in internet with a news. 

I like recycling. I remember that in my school had recycling bins, I think  that this helped people become aware of the importance of environmental care. I also like to walk, using my legs, when I go out.

The truth, I have not joined any eco-friendly organizations, although, I have participated in some activities and demonstrations. This summer, I think becoming a volunteer in some eco-friendly organization. 

When I was in school, my friends did a class about care for the environment to a course of small children,  I also attended and think it's a good way to educate people. I would like to conduct and participate actively in different ways deliver information and educate.

To reduce my carbon footprint, I try to use fewer spray products in my house  and others places, recycle, walk instead using a car.

I think Santiago is a city that suffers from a lot of pollution, where gradually destroys the environment and green areas, I think we need to engage people more, engaged and informed, also reduce levels of smog-producing especially the cars, buses and trucks and that people begin to be part of the change. 

For this reason it is important to educate people about these issues and that you are informed about it.

My experience in the field

The best experience I had in the field of the psychology, was visit the kinder garden in development psychology. We had that observe the behaviour of childrens in different aspects of their development. My group chose observe and work specifically the moral development of childrens, for this reason we had that make an interview to the teacher and director of the kinder garden, besides of observe the childrens in their class.

An difficulty we had with the kinder garden, was a problem of communication and coordination with one of the teachers to go visit the garden. This cause the director will call our assistant and teacher of subject, for inform about this problem. However this problem  was solved when my classmate talk with the teacher and director of garden, saying that all was a bad understood.

I liked this experience, because I had the opportunity of share with children in their school environment and observe their relationships and behaviors. Allowed me to know the work being done with children in the school environment from the practice and the role that the psychologist has in this educational environment.

The visit  the kinder garden, also helped me understand, that I really wanted to work with children in schools, with different activities and exercise that can help them supplement their development and knowledge.

 

My Future Job

When I think of my future work, I think of a job that I enjoyment and with it that I feel accomplished. Right now this work it would be as educational psychologist.

Few months ago I did not know well that area of psychology choose, I was torn between clinical psychology or educational, but after of reflection understand that really interested me the educational psychology and can work with childrens and their devolpment.

I like besides had the opportunity of travel to different places and countries, because I think exist countries that are more advanced in some important aspect to consider in the education and could serve as support at work, as a way of contributing to our education. For this I can not imagine me restricted a work all day in an office, because the truth would not be bored and would be the opposite of what I hope to make future.

That would be my ideal work for the future, but what I really hope is that it is a job I enjoy. I do not want to limit myself only to my work, I would like to make other activities of my interest and expand my experience and knowledge, take time to relax and to share with my family.

Cultural Shock

A culture shock from psychology it could understand as a process in wich a person or a group of people  interact, knows and incorporates practices from a different culture, in which exist behaviour and ways of communicating, that are specific to that group of people. In a principle is difficult accustomed these practices different, generate in the person feeling of distress and suffering. 

The change from my school at my high school, involved a important shock for me, because had opposing cultures between them. My school to a very simple, one might say that was humble in that sense, there was a family atmosphere between all members of the college and also there was much diversity of people who came from different towns and countries, with which one was related and learning about other cultures, even I had a friend who was ¨mapuche¨. However in my high school was completely different practices, had many children who could be considered ¨cuicos¨, had little fellowship and were discriminate with other persons different they, there was not much diversity of people from other cultures and if came of other culture was judged and discriminate.

It cost me the adjust to this new school and I do not know if it sicceeds, because was not in accordance with ways of behaving, because for me it is important to be tolerant and learn from other cultures, that expands our knowledge and experience in life.

Concert

One of the last concerts I really enjoyed was ¨Calle 13¨. They were March 14 at the ¨Santa Laura¨ stadium. I really like this puertorican band, that mixes different musical styles with lyrics in rap form. Is headed by Rene Perez Joglar  known as ¨Residente¨ and his stepbrother Eduardo Cabra known as ¨Visitante¨.

The concert was part of the tour they were doing because of the new album they took called ¨multiviral¨, their openers were ¨Chico Trujillo¨ and Manuel García.

The stadium was full of people of all ages, even had families enjoying the concert. They sang some songs from his new album, but the vast majority were songs from their previous albums.

A moment very  nice, awesome and exciting that occurred was when everyone illuminated the stadium with their cell phones, for the liberty of puertorican Oscar López Rivera, a political prisoner in the United States.

Other moment that was a little funny, was when ¨Residente¨ ask  if the people who were in the building near the stadium was listening and said that if the answer was whether, then that turn off and turn on the lights and the lights in the building went turn off and turn on.

I really enjoyed the concert, was a night amazing, exciting and surprising, where people from the public also were part of that unforgettable moment.

My Career

I chose study psychology in the University of Chile,  because found it very interesting can know about the behaviour and human development.  When  start  the career I reaally liked, especialty for the subjects that I had, although was very generals.

I always hope choose study in the University of Chile, for the prestige that it have and because is considerate one very good University in the country. Also when see the career curriculum, this I very liked for the subjects and because since the second semester of third year, one can deepen in the area of psychology that one want. For is reason I was very happy when called me, confirm that I had been accepted in the career  and University that I wanted.

Also other reason why I was attracted for this career is that I like work with kids that had special educational needs, which I can work since the psychology clinic or educational, that are the two area that I like.

I hope finish my career  in this University and can help with my work the kids. 

France

I would like to visit France with my friends or family, especially  I like to visit Paris, because I am curious about their history and culture. Also I like look the tower Eiffel, Louvre of musseum and the arc of triumph, between others attractions. I think that to learn about the history of country, a good idea is combine what you know and about this place and the experience of live this.

I do not like stay live forever in france and neither stay work. I would like is go of holidays for some month a France and from there travel a others countries of Europa as, Italy, Germany, Spain, Austria between others. Nevertheless  first  I have that learn english or french and also I like know the differents places of Chile and  near  this  with Peru, Argentina and Brazil, before of travel abroad.

I do not much about France and for this I hope learn more their history and culture for while.

My Blogging Experience

I had never had a blog before, this was my first experience. At first it was hard to write about the different topics of those which I had to speak, because I could not think that I could talk and I could hardly make the post because I could not think what to say, since almost never commented publications of others. So I enjoyment doing the blog, and it was a good experience that allowed me to express my ideas on different subjects and do it in English, allowed me to practice this language.

I think one of the advantages of having done a blog in the English class, is that I could learn a little more about the spelling of some words and the composition for expressing my ideas, which is very important, Since I was used go translating word for word every one of my ideas and the blog change this, since I realized that it is much faster and easier when it comes to translating the idea one have and if one do not know a word, you can replace for other.

Besides increasing every week the number of words we had to write, I allowed go adapting to this and I express more about a topic.

My favorite animal

An animal that I like and catches my attention is the dog. There are different breeds of dogs so their size, shape and coat is very different depending on the breed to which they belong, are also domestic, faithful and loving animals.

When I had like four years old my mom took me to the house of my grandparents, who had bought me a dog, my mother left me in the room of my grandparents alone with the dog and he is threw above me, by me shouting my Mom came and eventually the dog stayed with my grandparents. For this act I was afraid of dogs when I was little, I could not go through the side of them because cried. This changed when I was in third grade and my sister buy a puppy purebred Shih Tzu, came in a shoe-box, so here was very small, but even so at the beginning I was afraid to approach him, but gradually began to lose the fear and then also started to lose their fear of the other dogs, becoming one of my favorite animals and pets, because thanks to my dog, I realized that dogs are very affectionate and need of much care and love.

My favorite place to travel

One of my favorite places to travel is the beach ¨Pichilemu¨, specifically the area of ¨Beautiful beach¨, that's where I travel almost every year with my sister, brother in law and nephew to vacation. It's a beautiful place that combines different landscapes and is full of tranquility, which is partly the reason I like to visit this place.

When one travels into the center of ¨Pichilemu¨ can see different attractions as restaurants, craft fairs, one small fun fair and nightlife. Something else I like is that is close of ¨ Punta de Lobos¨ and of ¨Cáhuil¨ that are others beaches that you can visit and enjoy of what offer.

Some of the things I done here are eating out at restaurants or local, I also went to the fishing creek  to shop and eat, I made canopy on the beach although the stretch was shorter than normal, I went to the circus, I also visited and bought at various craft fairs during  the day and also at night, I also visited various craft fairs during  the day and also at night, the last time, I went to a function in a circus of cross-dressers and truth was a good experience. Logically also I have swum at the beach. I have visited a few games that are of a fair, although the truth only I uploaded to ¨Tagada¨, because I find that are a bit boring and more for children.

Dream for the future

After my graduation in University, I hope to have a long vacation to enjoy and relax. Then hopefully get a job in the area of clinical or educational psychology, although yet not decided, and working with children. I hope having time for do other courses or workshops related to art, music and film.

I would like to do a master or doctoral degree, although admittedly it scares me a little, because it is difficult and consuming much time of you life, however on the other hand it is important, because it delivers you more information and specialization in the area in that you develop.

Another dream for the future and that I have  from girl and that I hope to make, is to travel to different places in different countries to know cultures and sceneries new, which we often as not enjoyed by the hectic pace that we have in this society and the superficiality with which we look at things. First I would like to travel to different parts of Chile from north to south, then travel to neighboring countries to finally travel to Europe.

My favorite picture

In this picture I am with my friends from high school, the photo was taken at the 2013 holidays at the beach "Punta de Tralca". Actually I do not remember who took the photo, but it must have been a person who was round at that time. I like this photo because we are all together, but missing one of my friends who was not with us on vacation. I also like the picture because they are very fond memories that I have of the fun we had together on that holiday. I remember we were in the house of one of my friends who had a summer home, also took advantage of a walk and visit the nearby beaches so we went to Black Island and Tabo too. Then we went to "Isla de Maipo" so we continued our vacation. This photo reminds me of all that. And I hope to repeat.

My favorite movie

One of my favorite movies is The Black Swan, it´s an american movie, directed by Darren Aronofsky in 2010. 

This starring Nataile Portamn, Mila Kunis, Vincent Cassel, Barbaara Hershey and Winona Ryder. 

The movie is about Nina (Portman) a ballet dancer in New York, she lives with her mother Erica (Hershey) who in his youth was also a ballet dancer, punishes and is strict  with her daughter.

A day in the ballet company which participates Nina, its director Thomas Leroy (Cassel) an audition to see who will take the lead role in the play The Swan Lake and for the role she must play the white swan, that representing innocence, which she acts perfectly, but also must act to black swan that represents the opposite, sensulity and cunning. Nina costing represent the black swan, from that moment begins a struggle with herself to get the lead role and more when a new dancer Lily (Kunis) who personifies the black swan nicely, arrives. 

Throughout the movie you can see all psychological problematics involved in both the mother and daughter relationship and the preparation that takes Nina to get the lead role, which leads to the death at the end of the movie .

This movie I like by the psychological plot that is observed and that integrates the movie, which makes it attractive and interesting to watch .

My favorite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is my cell phone.

I had my first cell phone when I was 14 years old, but I currently have it since January this year. 

I use it all the time, I never leave without it, because it keeps me connected, with it you can call, send text messages, take pictures, or connect and talk to people through Facebook, WhatsApp or Line. I can also play  in different  Apps, with Candy Crush, or watch Internet sites, but I turn it off at night.

I like it because it entertains me and communicates with others.

Last year my cellphone was broken and I was more than a week without  it. It was a tough moment for different reasons, one of them is the problem for the communication in that moment, because when I needed I couldn't and that sort of thing I wouldn't want me to happen again.

Expectations for a New Semester

I have classes this semester of labor, psychology, educational, legal, clinical and community psychology and also have English. In this moment I’m not participating in any other activity within the university, because I'm concentrating more on my studies and also doing a cooking course on Saturday morning.

I hope that this semester can define which area of psychology I like more and to which I want to focus and think that to take one subject from each specialty would help me, also hope my English will get better and I pronounce, listen and understand better when speaking English, pass all class and progress in my cooking class.

 I hope it is an excellent semester.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY

I was born on July 7, 1993 at the San Juan de Dios Hospital located in Santiago.
I studied my primary education at the Sazié Lorenzo College, then I did my high school in the Excelsior College, both located in Santiago Centro; in 2012 I enrolled to study Psychology at the University of Chile, now I'm studying my third year.
I live with my father, mother and my dog ​​Lucas. My sister Nely, 41; Andrea, 40; and my brother Nelson, 36, come to my house very often. Also, I have two nephews who I see every day: Antonio, 19 years old and Benjamín, 5 years old.
I have some hobbies, listening to music, walk with my friends, going to the cinema; but what I like is sleeping and seeing new places.
I am very happy, we are a nice family and I have very good friends.
